Our Fall 2021 Studio/LAB Resident Jisun Judy Myung will be sharing their newest work, miyoekguk project.

miyoekguk project, Korean seaweed soup 미역국 (miyeokguk) : aka birthday soup. Koreans eat this soup on their birthday. Korean women also eat this soup for about a month or two after giving birth.

In miyoekguk project: Korean women share their stories on reproductive choices while having a bowl of miyoekguk together virtually. Jisun leads the audience to play-cook some birthday soup, listen and watch Korean women's stories on reproduction. Come and taste a bowl of heartfelt mother-daughter connection, slippery baggage of tradition, or Korean women diaspora.
