Summer 2019 SEED Artists-In-Residence
Barriers is a dystopic vision of the future where the lack of resources driven by climate change cause the movement of cultures that are impediments to dignity and survival. Through music, movement, poetry, and built environment it’s our intention to respond artistically and aesthetically to the current Central American migration crisis and the inhumane treatment of Central American migrants in both Mexico and America.
ASHLEY BAKER BIO
Ashley Lorraine Baker is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BFA in dance and minor in communication. The downtown phoenix area is responsible for the majority of Baker’s dance training as a graduate of Arizona School for the Arts and the School of Ballet Arizona. Ashley is an active dancer, photographer and creator in the valley performing with Scorpius Dance Theatre for two seasons with an international tour as well as performing with her own company All Bodies Dance Collective and ReCurrence Dance Collective. She currently teaches at Phoenix Center for the Arts and Fisher Fine Arts School which she manages.
MICHAEL PFISTER BIO
Michael Pfister is a professional drummer and Instructor in the College of Integrative Arts and Sciences at the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus. The co-founder of Marche-Pfister Productions and Jazz Meets Poetry at The Nash in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Pfister is an active force in the Phoenix Arts community as both a multidisciplinary performer and facilitator.
